Description:
This seminar focuses on areas of biology that encompass important political, economic,
social, and philosophical issues that are vital and relevant to humanity. Examines perspectives on current relevant, and biologically based topics such as evolution/ scientific creationism, sociobiology, biotechnology, right to life issues, animal rights, AIDS and other epidemics, and overpopulation. This seminar will give undergraduate students a strong grasp of the issues underlying present and future biological concerns.
Professor Thomas Even, Ecology, Evolution & Marine Biology, his area of research expertise included population and community ecology, freshwater biology, river ecology, and predator-prey interactions. Courses that he regularly teach include Introductory Biology for Majors (Ecology-EEMB 2, Diversity-EEMB 3) Concepts of Biology for Non Majors (EEMB 20), Tropical Ecology (EEMB 159), River Ecology (EEMB 148), Aquatic Communities (EEMB 142A) and Teaching Techniques (EEMB 502).
