Description:
This course will examine the multiple ways in which the recession has impacted individuals and families, neighborhoods, cities, states, regions, racialized groups, women, men, and children. We will also examine the ways in which public policies are positively and negatively effecting poverty.

Professor Clyde Woods, Department of Black Studies, area of specialty is the study of African American regional history, culture and public policy. Among the places studied are the Mississippi Delta and Southern California. Also, he is a student of U.S. urban history. Other areas of interest include race and public policy, and the Blues and Hip Hop studies.
