Description:
Santa Barbara is home to an active community of Holocaust survivors and refugees
who have participated in innovative and compelling projects of Holocaust testimony,
remembrance and education. This one-day seminar will introduce students to these efforts. It will include the viewing of a film and a visit to the Santa Barbara Jewish
Federation’s permanent exhibit “Portraits of Survival: Life Journeys During the Holocaust and Beyond."
Professor Susan Derwin, German & Comparative Literature, areas of research and teaching include the Holocaust, 19th and 20th century European and American novel and memoir, and critical theory.
